I like to give credit where it due on this one... Coyotejohn told me to do this when I was having a problem getting to the coyotes that won't come into your calling and they get on the horizon and bark and yip and howl... If this occurs I don't care what time of the year it is hit them with one full minute of the coyote pup distress.  Be it electronics or your own mouth calling.. then shut up for a long period of time.. However be ready because they just show up!!! Everyone likes a pup!!

This is always a part of my  45 minute calling scenario. 1 minute of the coyote pup distress.  Again worked for me numerous times when those coyotes go to a high spot and start yipping and howling and won't show.. Just remember to try... Some times it works and sometimes it don't .. But it sure works more than any other sound I  have used in the past.

UB do you actually call one coyote stand for 45 minutes?

Yes CJ I do stay long... I have called in coyotes in 20 seconds up to 45 minutes... I just don't let the caller rip for long periods of time like when I fox hunt.. I sure you have seen where I say I yank their chain.  many minutes of the 45 is spent in silence.. I  do the coyote pup for 1 full minute and then remain silent for  8 minutes of the 45.

I can't argue with success, if it works for you - great.  How many coyotes have you killed after waiting that long?  I may want to extend my stands.

John.  When u call out there do u just use coyote pup or do u mix it up?

I never do a constant pup cry/distress.  I'll start out with a low squeal (vole, mouse, rat, bulb squeaker) then switch to whatever distress call I'm going to use, jack, cottontail, fawn, etc.  I let it run loud and constant for about 5 to 10 minutes at the most, then switch to pup in distress for a few minutes. Once I sit down and turn on the caller I never turn it off until I'm ready to move on.  However once I turn it off I do scan the area before I get up.  Plus I always carry my rifle with me when I walk out to the caller, have killed more than one coyote while walking out to pick up the caller.
