Coyotes that come to the call the same way over and over again..
« on: February 25, 2016, 03:31:27 PM »
Certain parts of Pa the farms butt right up against each other and consist of maybe 100 acres or less. Hard when calling and you have permission one tract and the coyotes go down wind of that border and bust you from a farm you don't have permission on...  I have this one farm that seems like the coyotes do that to me all the time.. What I want to do is use my ICOtec... Hunt alone,  if wind direction is just right, post where I keep getting busted with a shotgun.. right on the border of the property I can hunt on..  I know the callers from Cumberland county know what I'm talking about... Sometimes the coyotes will come to your calling right down Cumberland county country roads...  I know now that when I hunt with more than  2 people  the hunt is usually over and or busted...I probably need to get to that corner I keep getting busted in and just hope the coyotes... Now I said coyotes because it's a pack of them just make that one mistake and stick their head through the fence I have permission on. Bang...  March is an outstanding time to hunt coyotes.. I'm going to do some serious coyote hunting after this weather breaks.. ALONE!!!!! and go one on one with this pack...Gee maybe I need to get up in a tree stand right on the property line???????   I don't have a tree stand!!!:)  However I do have a blind...

UB had his chance.  Maybe I will just hunt his farms and shoot those fence runners for him.  He will figure it out someday. ;D ;D ;D ;D
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Lol.  I always respect others hunting properties.  Even if I have permission I would not do that to you.  Although it would be fun to see your expression. ;D ;D

If you are taking the shotgun, you are getting serious, face to face.
Been snowing here all day but not laying. What weather break are you waiting for? Dark moon? Cold front? I'm curious.

Am like Jaspr...I can't let this go...why don't you have permission on the other property?
My guess is you tried, but was turn down.
Work your magic, UB and keep 'em on your side.

I tried to get permission there someone has permission for that farm already... The other farm the person passed away. yet the other corner farm the women hugs trees.. LOL...Now would I like to get entry to her farm...The coyotes actually live in her woodlot.. :)  So this is a good example.. there are 4 farms counting mine that touch each other... We set restraints on the farm I hunt on and we didn't catch one coyote there.. The farmer said that his deer season was the worse he ever had.. I told him why.. The coyotes are pushing everything out.. .I didn't even catch a fox on that farm nor call one in.. Right now it's  100 % coyotes on it..

I don't rove on all properties.. I made about 20 stands during the 3 days of the mosquito creek hunt and only roved about 2 times because the terrain allowed..   In those  3 days I called in  4  coyotes , 4 reds and  2 gray fox. So my tactics can't be all that bad... My big problem was hunting with 3 people instead of  2... If I should desire to get into the MC next year. I'm only going to hunt with my son and I... We know what each of us are suppose to do.. Hence why i'm going to go after the pack of coyotes by myself...Right now the winds and the rains are bad so i'm just waiting for the ideal night...As  I type this my wife just said there is an  E2 tornado in Lancaster, Pa. Hence it's not yet time to hunt these critters.

I think I know where your talking about.  The person that passed, was he an old man with the last name the same as the road he lived on?  Trying to keep your spot somewhat private for you.  If so, I'm the guy that has permission on the other farm.  Oh the possibilities! ;D  Your tactics are not bad UB, just the pacing part.  But if it works for you who cares.  I do some (super secret) ::) stuff that people would question myself.

OK.  I actually had two farmers pass away.  Sounded familiar.  I know we all have to die someday but I especially hate to see the old farmers pass.  All to often you will lose permission to hunt because the kids are either against it or want it all for themselves.  I have lost more than my share of farms like this.
