I made 4  stands from 12-4:30 AM. 2 of the 4 stands coyotes howled in the distance. On one of the stands the shooter heard cracking branches and snow crushing in line with ICOtec with decoy. It flanked the sound from it's right side. So typical of Pa coyotes. Flanking the sound from side. As I type this i'm reflecting back on what might have caused the coyote to not step out in a mountain clearing. I think he stood in the opening of the field and should have posted along the edge where trees started to break up his outline.. It was twilight and i now think what ever it was saw him. Sure a lot of Bared Owl and Great Horned Owls out this morning.

One other comment. The animal that did the sound came to the sound by coming down the plowed road and entered a patch of woods. It didn't come across the crusted snow. Again it used the least resistance. We were hunting public land in deep deep forest with  road running through it.

went up to my club with my partner yesterday afternoon..scouted a bit, came up with a game plan and hoped like hell the wind would die down..it didn't..we did a stand at dusk in area we have had success at and also found fresher sign in.. that sign fell in line with where other club guys said they had been seeing dogs at...long story short, we struck out. Wind got so bad we cut our loses and hung at the clubhouse the rest of the night..got up at 5:45 am this morning, there was a drop in the wind, we made a great stand but no takers and wind again increased to the point of it being counter productive..Now, I'm back home thinking about the 2 stands we made in 24 hrs! Staying local tonight, back up to club tomorrow for last ditch attempt...wind permitting. Good luck everyone..

My friend and I walked one down and shot it. We jumped it three times before we got a good shot, and it only took 8 hours of walking. Too bad it was only 35 pounds.

We did take it up. It was number 109 entered. A guy brought one in that was still breathing and he didn't even know it.
