Fosters VS Sabot Slugs
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:06:41 AM »
Last year I invested in many of a $$$$$$sabot slugs.....This year I decided to use the cheap Foster...Wal-Mart  5 Fosters slugs  $3.49 for 5....Sabots at Dicks and or Dunhams.....up to $17.00 a box for 5.
My scope on my model 500 20 gauge is a 2.5...Sure not set up to shoot slugs at 100 yards anyway...Hence I am going with the Foster care!!!!!!

I will be hunting in a wooded area that I can only see about 50 yards at most....Hence the Fosters will be used with my Model 500 Slug gun this year not the expensive blend........

I shot it today at the club.  Kind of gives me reason to shoot an anterless deer too.....Take one with the shotgun would even make my day....
However wow if one grow legal horns that would also be better yet.
Was quite impressed in how the slug rifled barrel did help the slugs group.  In the old days....smooth bore you never knew where the slug was going to hit...
had a friend....shot at the buck's shoulder with a Model 12 pump gun.... Oh about 30 yard shot!!!He hit the buck in the head. Blew off one of the antlers...Sure never knew where the slug was going to go back then.

So what do you think? Fosters or do you go with Sabots  $$$$$$..

As  day light lifted this morning...I notice that I could have shot my slug gun in for 25 yards instead of 50...
May deer hunters will go to the range shoot their guns in for 100. 150, 200 yards and go into the deer woods and post where they only see 25 to 50 yards...
