***JUNIOR HUNT 2017-18***
« on: July 30, 2017, 03:53:17 PM »
The PPHA is pleased to announce that this year we will be adding a junior hunt as one of our featured contests. We feel that it is important to keep with our mission statement and promote the sport of predator hunting and educate youth. So we are going to give them a chance to shine and have a hunt of their own.

RULES

1) The contest is open to junior hunters age 12-16

2) All animals must be harvested in PA.

3) All animals must be called in.

4) All Pennsylvania game laws apply.

5) All junior hunters must be accompanied by a PPHA member in good standing.

6) The adult may run the call and lights for night hunting. The junior hunter must be the shooter.

Registration for the hunt will be online in the PPHA forum board. All hunters entering the contest will need to enter a three digit number when registering (number to be used as a tie breaker in the event of a tie).

This contest will be season long and run from Oct. 21st. to Feb. 17th to give junior hunters every opportunity to harvest furbearers.

This will be an internet check in hunt. Enter your harvest pictures on the PPHA forum board under the junior hunt thread. The junior hunter must be in the picture with the harvested animals displaying the appropriate sign (sign to be announced prior to season opener). All entries must be posted within 24 hours of harvest to be counted.

This will be a point system hunt. The hunter with the highest score at the end of season wins. Scoring will be as follows.

15 points  Bobcat
10 points  Coyote
 5  points  Fox red/grey
 1  point   Raccoon

Prizes generously donated by our sponsors.

PRIZES

The winner of the junior hunt will receive a FOXPRO wildfire electronic caller with remote and Bee's O'Brien hand calls.

The PPHA cares about children and wishes to give them an opportunity to have a youth contest of their own in a safe environment. We are keeping current with child protection laws to ensure the safety of kids participating in PPHA sanctioned events. All PPHA members who plan on taking a NON-RELATIVE youth out for the junior hunt will be required to obtain a child abuse history clearance and submit a copy to the PPHA for our records. Any member not in compliance will not be eligible to accompany a NON-RELATIVE youth for this hunt. We want children to have a great time on this hunt and we want parents to know that their kids are with an organization that cares about them. Lets make this a great hunt for the children. They are the future.

Well said..Sure it is an extra step that needs to be done for those that are seeking to participate with a non-relative but, being a requirement by law we must abide. Furthermore, it's in the best interest of our younger participants. Thanks to Jaspr and Foxhound for your efforts regarding this matter. Let's hope to have a safe and fun effort.

Alright folks! Opening night is upon us. Here is the info for all junior hunters to use. You must have this sign present in your photos displayed with kills.

2017/18 PPHA
  junior hunt

Be sure to write the date of your harvest on the sign before taking the photo. You can re-use the same sign on another day. Just cross out the old date and write the current date for other harvests. Good luck to our junior hunters. Have fun and be safe!
