I was hunting over snow conditions one Feb night... You didn't need a light it was so light out there... I was using my Rem 700 BDL 17 Rem.. I loaded the gun.. I had one of those cabelas heavy duty predator calling coveralls on with a little gray and snow covered on.. My bulb squeaker was in my pocket. As I turned and walked away from the vehicle the bulb squeaker in my tight pocket started to go "SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!" All of a sudden a red fox comes running down the county road right at me.. I was high up off the road so he sees me and he takes off across the field.. Being that I was high enough I let loose with a fast shot at the fleeing red.. I think I shot at it with two rounds.. Of course I missed it.. he caught me with my pants down so speak... Now remember I just called this red fox in and the squeaker was in my pocket of my camo coveralls. So I do reload my shells so I reach down to pick up the fired brass.. My motion made my bulb squeaker squeak again.. Guess what? I called in another red fox with just picking up my brass... I missed him or her too.l.
So now when I do call I will put my squeaker in my pocket make low sounds of course take it out and hold it by my pant leg do some more squeaks, back into the pocket again more squeaks out of the pocket again.. more squeaks.. I have called in more red fox doing this technique.. Get yourself SOME not ONE good bulb squeakrs,, Quakerboy , Primos, etc... Those little plastic ones inside of pet toys are ok and they work but you want to do some serious bulb squeaking.. I have known new callers that say they are embarrassed because that the only way they can call coyotes in with a bulb squeaker and a sheet thrown over their shoulders... Sept is a good time of the year to fool the young now grown pups with the bulb squeaker....However it's a 365 day a year call.. Believe me they can hear it real far away if it's not real windy at night time..
