Spring Birds????

Can't believe there is NO chatter on turkeys
Somebody is eager, it's that time of year.
The neighbor across from me reported 2 in the field behind his house on Sat. (7 house, safety zone) smart birds.
Locally I have heard several potential victim's gobbling
I won't make it for the 1st day but I plan on getting out to enjoy the spring woods.
I just use my single barrel 12 factory full choke....Ammo I have been using a 4x6 load in 3 inch the last several years and it works just fine.
I have shot a few with 2 3/4 inch 5's and 6's over the years and they worked just as well
Dead bird!
what's to argue?
Calls are like opinions everyone has one or two or a dozen...LOL...
I have so many after 50+ yrs, I have a gear bag just for them.
Well good luck if your going and post the results.....

Had the boy out for youth season on saturday, we saw 1 hen and heard a few more close by, also heard a few distant gobbles on the next property over. I hope this weekend has better results.

Had my one boy out for his last junior hunt. Called the same hen in twice to 10 yards but she wasnt dragging any of her boyfriends with her. Had gobbling on the roost but were henned up and didn't talk after flydown. Came across a pair gobbling around 9:30 and worked them for a while with no luck. Tried to put a move on them and ran into another hunter who thought he and his son should check out all the turkey sounds they were hearing.
Wont be out the first day but hope to make it out the second saturday. Good luck to all that are heading out.

"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

I am going to do a little hunting up at camp. There it is tough to find gobblers the last couple of years. I just enjoy hunting the big timber. Might look around for some new snake places also.

Buckwheat, I recently read the PGC said there is a decrease in Turkey population due to previous two hard winters. Our friend Renny confirms that statement in Bradford County.

I just was on "tuscarora state forest facebook" they have a little video of a rattlesnake just emerging from it's winter den. Didn't know if you ever check this site, they often have some great pictures from trail cams.

I took a 2 hour walk around the nephew's property this morning around 8am.
They were certainly Gobble'n this morning. At one point, I had Gooble'n on all sides of me. Sounded like 5 birds, two of them were together. They still were sounding off as I left. Two spots, hens were yelp'n and putt'n.
When scouting for Turkey, I don't carry any calls. I just never called before the season, I see no reason unless you want to take pictures or video.
Not going out on Saturday. I may get out the first week.
Good Luck to everyone. Be safe.

Check the "Beard on this Turkey"
Truly a "Butterball"
Biggest problem would be finding a "Turkey fryer" big enough to stuff that load in..
