Fox Facts...Wanna Play ???????????????????
« on: August 23, 2013, 10:37:34 PM »
OK.  I read a great deal of scientific data on fox.  Sucks that most if not all fox research in the last ten years is from the UK.  So I was thinking, if anyone is interested how about posting an interesting fact about the red fox.  Wanna play?  I'll start:

Red fox love going out after a rain fall and eating up as many worms as they can find.

When hunting red fox if no sounds are getting their attention... Don't leave without trying a good 8 min of vigorous bulb squeaking... Oh how the bulb squeaker has saved the day for me when all other sounds showed no interest to red fox.. just hold it down the side of your leg and squeeze the heck out of it.  Now put it in your pocket and squeeze it.. back and forth back and forth. But get ready many times the reds run right at you so I do better with my Benelli and I have to empty the entire gun at them before I get them on the third shot!!  Truly is exciting !!!!!!!! red fox are sucker for field mice.. be it a bulb squeaker or on a electronic caller... I prefer the bulb squeaker since I can play around with the pitch and the loudness of it..

Red Fox have large feet. Club feet. Many folks mistake 'em for Coyote tracks.

Red fox love a fresh snow, almost like kids wanting to play in it.

The red fox can be found in all of the Northern Hemisphere as well as parts of Africa and has been introduced in Australia. Because of it unique resourcefulness is is listed as an invasive species in Australia and is wreaking havoc on their native mammal and bird populations.

Alright..back to fox for a while...

Birds make up a very small percentage of the diet of a fox.

Fox rarely mess with domestic or wild cats.  (unlike coyotes)

Alright...that should fill my September quota...   :-*

Red Fox are suckers for high pitched mount blown calls or high pitched electronic sounds... add  Voles, Guinea pigs distress sounds to your electronic calling machines.  Learn how to make high pitched bird distress sounds on open reed predator calls.. when using bird distress let them rip... When birds are hurting they really squall loud and for long periods of time...

Some gray fox will hole up in the winter when the temps drop...They just change their hunting time frame to sunny afternoons.. Use food sounds then at 12:00 noon on sunny days and you could pick up a few gray fox...
