I have some of the  .172 20 grain HP that intend to try in the  17 Hornet.  I have used the Hornady depth seating gauge and recorded what the OAL is for my  17 Rem Encore and the  17 Fireball Encore.  I have reloaded some for the  17 Fireball and the 17 Rem Encore barrels but have to try them out soon..Hoping taking the correct OAL for the two 17 barrels will make them shoot well.. Notice they are smaller in length  than the Hornady 25 grain HP and of course the 20 Grain VMAX.> Midway designates the .172 as  Dogtown  Fireballs bullets.?? Since  they are shorter I wanted to make sure I use the Hornady Depth  Seating Case for them..

I've used the 34gr .204 bullets with good luck

I had a Remington 700 SPS that actually shot the 34s the best of anything I tried. That gun was very picky and only shot a couple bullets to my liking

They also shoot very good out of my CZ527.  Almost as good as the 32 gr Blitz Kings.  Of course this gun will shoot just about anything i put through it.

Did notice because of our outstanding gun and ammo salesman now... Midwayusa isn't taking backorders on some of the bullets like the old days... Hopefully the Dogtown bullets that are out of stock they again will soon have them in large qtys for everyone.. maybe after Hillary Loses??
