So aren't the females close to denning up? won't you essentially be calling to only males in the next month or two?
There are males and females that don't mate. Only alpha pair mates. So you will essentially be calling to a mixed bag of Alpha pair and Beta males & females.
Bees O'B says-
also keep in mind there's females still out there that have not mated yet and also some young first year males still looking for a booty call!
Once again, not all Coyotes mate.
During denning and rearing of pups, often an Alpha Male will permit another female to help rear the pups. This female is usually a relative to the Alpha pair (sister or daughter) and is referred to as an 'Attending Female.'
Here's some of my results and observations from hunting den sites....
While doing denning ADC work, I have often killed the Male & Attending Female before the Alpha Female. Or you kill the Alpha pair in short order...more than likely the Attending Female will be around. A simple look at the teets will reveal the female killed at this time of year.
