Yes, they are also called sulfer mushrooms. They vary in color from a pale yellow to orange and even almost white. They are good to eat but I prefer the young thin ones or just the edges back about an inch on the older ones. The thicker it gets the tougher it is.
Sorry, yes there are books. Leglifter has a good one, not sure what the name is. I have one call Wild Mushrooms of Pennsylvania by Bill Russel. I like it because it's mostly just mushrooms you would find in our area.
