Can you actually shoot different from someone else?
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:32:40 PM »
I hope this doesnt sound to stupid but I got a 22-250 this summer and have the thing really shootin good now I've only missed 3 animals with it so far and have killed a groundhog, 7 fox, and coyote in Missouri with it but so far nobody else has seemed to be able to hit anything with it my dad and 3 of my buddies have missed fox with it on a couple occasions and all were shooting off the bipod I have on it and all were under 150 yards at night.. so my ? is can you actually shoot different from someone else cause I've never had this problem with a gun of mine before but its happened at least 8 times now with this gun or is it just them flat out missing lol I'm just curious if anyone has ever encountered something similar to this ? The most important thing is that it keeps shooting good for me though   ;D

Night shooting is tough for everyone... If you don't have the shooting method down right your going to miss.  Sounds like you have it down right and they don't.  Could be as simple as that they don't have the gun against their cheek.  They could also not be squeezing the trigger properly.  They might have a bit of fox fever

Even with a shotgun... shots that would be so easy in the daytime are missed because they don't have the shotgun in the proper alignment with their cheek..

Shooting the gun you are use to shooting is always better if it is sighted in good enough to hit small targets like fox.  predator94 you are talking about a total of 4 shooters that miss with your gun that you feel deadly with.
The gun might not fit the other shooters the way the guns they regularly shoot fits. The trigger pull or the eye relief also could be giving the shooters problems, there eye sight could be different then yours and clarity could be some of the problem. It could be some of the guys can not shoot no matter what gun they use when a critter un nerves them in the night. They maybe just flinch. The only real way to know if it is the shooters or the gun, is to go to the range first and see how they shoot your gun before the hunt. That way when they miss you will know why. :-)

For a brief moment I could hear nature through all the noise.

I sighted in several deer rifles for other people one fall. All were great except for my sister's gun. She shot at a buck 4 times hitting him low and missing a shot or two. She did get the buck, but definitely shoots different than I do. I fired the gun on target later and it was right on for me, but about 4 inches low for her. I have shot different people's guns at targets and they always seemed to shoot the same. Buckwheat has it figured out.lol
