How many Fox/Coon/Coyote do you kill a year on average?
What is a realistic number of Fox/Coon/Coyote that I should be killing a season?These are two questions Iam often asked.
At times, it's hard to give an outright answer because of variables.
3 main variables come to mind...
Time. Inwhich, the more time spent hunting should equal more fur in the shed.
Population. Animal density is key here. More critters (high population) in your area should equal more fur.
Weather. Heavy rain, sleet, snowing conditions,fresh deep snow or high winds it's a good bet to stay home. Before and after a storm front is payday, for the most part, as well as misty nights, calm nights or nights with a breeze.
Other variables incluse competition, big or small hunting territory, pre-season scouting, critters moved to another area and your level of experience.
At times I beat myself up over fustration of failure. Am so focused but fall flat on my face. This occurs when I am missing one overlooked detail to my predator calling method.
Usually realated to one of the above variables.
Example:
I planned to hunt and return to the house within 1 1/2 hours each week nite for a month (last season). Some weeks were so-so, some were great. I was expecting GREAT every outing. But low population, weather, & competition held my 'numbers' back somewhat.

If you have questions on your 'numbers', think for yourself, use reason and woodmenship to get yourself back on track.

I thought he awensered it pretty well.  if you are out there hunting you should be doing it for your own enjoyment anyhow not how many fox you might kill over the next guy.  there are too many variables between individual people to be comparing numbers as a sucess.  hunter A may be out hunting all the time because he is retired or has nothing else to pre occupy his life.  Hunter B might have a family with 4 kids and has to work two jobs.  if hunter A kills 10 fox a year hunting every night during the season and hunter B kills 2 fox in 3 nights of hunting who was the most successful?

On my personal numbers...No. (yep, to some friends and never the wife )
On your numbers or if someone ask me what they should be killing...it varies with experience, time put in hunting, animal density, weather, pre-season scouting, big territory/small territory and such.

I wasn't going to touch this with a 10 foot pole and Pulaski the 10 foot pole wouldn't touch it either!!!LOL

Most times I don't like to tell anyone on what I harvest and this is for the following reason:

If you tell people that you missed a fox the other night....Coworkers will start to spread it around that  your a bad shot...There are many a AH out there in the work force..."Remember Not All Men Are Created Equal!"
I have had actual editorial written about me in the local newspaper by tree huggers... Things like:  UB is the predator not the coyote!!!I had to disconnect my regular phone and go to cell phone since I was getting prank calls every night there after...They would ring only once and you could not see on caller ID who called. BUT!!!!since I didn't have to pay $39.00 per month for regular phone services anymore  I purchased more guns and ammo to shoot more predators.. Thank you PETA pranker I now can afford more ammo..

Then there are the people that read forums and see  what your killing in your area... Won't be long when you will see there car tracks and foot prints in the snow on lands that you only have permission to hunt on..."So Loose lips sink ships!" 

I would like to say that just like other athletes that each and everyone of us will go into a calling or shooting slump..... It might be your using to much electronics or it could be your just not aligning your shotgun properly on your shoulder at night and you will start to miss predators..Sometimes it could be you should have had an more open choke and you used the Deadcoyote choke and the coyote near ran you Down!!!!

Truly....what is the old saying... "You don't worry about what I'm calling in or shooting at or harvesting!"  "You compete against yourself!" "Don't worry what I'm doing out there in the great outdoors."

Also because of the pranks and editorials I now carry a PCFA now.  See what telling numbers either missed or harvested can turn into....

As stated already there really ain't no clear answer to this. It all depends on how experienced you are,how much time or area you have to hunt, even the quality of equipment you have or the amount of ammo you can afford to buy for both hunting and practicing purposes. I have a friend that wants to go with me sometime. I told him before he goes I want him to come up to my place an do some shooting under a light. Most new people have never shot at night so that is a big factor in your possible kill rate. Its one thing to shoot a 1 inch group at 100 yds from a bench in the middle of the day, but if you can't hit a pie plate at 100 yards from sticks or a field position while using a light you are pretty much wasting your time. I don't care if you are a world champion caller, if you or the person you are hunting with can't shoot your gonna have a lot of trips home with an empty truck bed. If you are in a place with lots of coyotes, you more than likely won't kill as many fox and vise versa. Do you pull into a spot an get out right away slammin car doors an talkin, or do you wait a few minutes to let things calm down and sneak into your spot? Are you paying attention to the wind? I'm sure I have not mentioned many other important factors but you get the idea. Your personal best is all you should be concerned about. Just like anything else, you only get out what you put into it.
