Opening week-end for calling
« on: October 22, 2010, 07:55:35 PM »
Been a long week...Batteries charging all over the house since Sunday. Lights affixed to the guns just this afternoon. Many of  "Now Where Did I Put That Thing?" Hoping to get a few hours of sleep before the season starts too.  4 more hours to go.. Checked the weather forecast..Wind is nice 4 MPH from WSW. Got my Predator Gray Camo out to hide better in the full moon conditions... Going to try a few new things out too to see how they work... I'm always doing that....Good luck on the opener... May you all get some calling action! Going to be hard to take a Siesta. It's always like that...

I knew I couldn't sleep.. All I was thinking about in bed was how I was going to set up on the few farms I was going to hunt... Thought about each individual farm,  the wind from the WSW and started thinking just how the predator might approach the call and just where I could set up to pop one before it winded me...

I made 5 stands called in two coon... I let them live for another day. Surely they were unprimed. No canines appeared...

Did the same thing U.B.  passed on two raccoons at a mere ten yards away.  I was only targeting yotes and mainly fox.  Ended up with two reds and three greys after seven sets.  Now back to work and no hunting for me tonight.  Good luck to all!!!!!

Early season ratio is always better.  Don't worry as the season goes on it will drop down lol.  Good luck PPHA!

You all jinxed me!  lol.  Made four sets tonight and called in two reds on the last stand of the night.  Both came in on a string and then it happened.  My Light Force 170 failed to work just as I was lip squeeking them in for a shot.  I scrambled to use my headlight to hold under my gun to try to save the day and then a fellow I took with me tonight to try to get him his first red moved and spooked both away with no shots being fired. He didn't see either fox.  Needless to say there goes my good ratio lol.  Looks like I will have to redeem myself on my next outting.  In the meantime I have a light to repair.  I  love my Light Force but, it sure has its wire issues.  The Predator Light I was wearing on my head for a second season.  It has not failed me yet. Time for bed.  Very frustrated that I educated two tonight.
