Remington 700 misfire

Has this happened to any of you?
 I had seen something regarding Remington in the news in the past and hadnt paid much attention to it.  Last night I was flippin channels while watching the Phillies loose, and I saw the Reminton gun on MSNBC (commy channel).  Figured it was some spin on gun control, and than I heard misfire while switching from safety to fire.

I bought my 700 SPS in June.  This has happened to me once.  I simply switch from safety to fire and BLAM, scared the crap out of me, and I sat there and thought about how important it is to never switch to fire unless pointing at your intended target.

This has actually happened to my girlfriend...she has a .243 rem 700  It actually broke her nose the first time it happened..its since been fixed but they called it a walking trigger i believe. Your local gunsmith should be able to fix it thats what we did with hers

I bought mine new in 10, wasnt this an issue with the 700's going back to the sixty's...and Remington changed the trigger mechanism?
I would think mine is not the same trigger assy.

im not completely sure i know her 700 is only 3 or 4 yrs old

i heard of this happening and thought it was a one or two time fluke...now that I hear two people complaing about it just here...kinda worries me a bit to buy a remmy in the future

do we know what years it is or if remington is fixing the situation?

Scott, I suggest you do a Google Search and read up on it...Everything I saw was on MSNBC which is a left wing network.  However I did read somethings on other sites.

I have two 700 BDL's that this has happened to one in the 30-06 caliber and another in the 280 caliber

Got some advise from Pigeon, a gunshop owner in VT. who has had much experience w/700's.  Get WD40 out of your life.  It is a Smiths best friend.  Use only lighter fluid to clean and lube a 700 trigger.  I will listen to him.
