PPHA Expo Results and Commentary
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:11:06 PM »
Thanks to all members and officers who voluntered their precious time to support the PPHA.

The target identification event went well for our first time.  I made it a little too hard and learned from my mistakes what I need to do to make it better for the next time.  The seven animals placed for identifcation were as follows, Skunk @ 137 yards, Racoon @ 204 yards, Coyote @ 238 yards, Red Fox @ 215 yards, Deer @ 261 yards, Bobcat @ 222 yards and Mt. Lion @ 193 yards in that order.  Congratulations to Ben Smyser for winning the event with three out of seven targets correctly identified with a yardage difference of 71 yards.  That is very good for how tuff it was (ask anyone who was there).  Ben won the predator light that was graciously donated by Restorc INC.  We had 12 people total enter the event.

I can't thank Charlie and Matt enough for driving down from New York for our little association.  They have a great light that is making the predator hunting community open their eyes (literally) ;D.  I purchased a light and if anybody wants see it, hold it or demo it, please let me know and maybe we can get together.  Although I have not used it in a hunting environment yet, I think it will fit my style and needs perfectly.  Stay tuned for some reviews from Ben and I on this light.

The night shoot was another success.  Seventeen shooters participated in the event and two junior members.  Again I made some mistakes that I am chalking up to a learning curve and will improve on them the next time.  Only 4 of the shooters hit all five vitals.  Joe Carvaleo of Massachusetts was the winner with five vitals in 22.44 seconds.  Nice shooting Joe.  Joe won $85.00 which was half the take for the shoot.

I thought the light was sold in PA?

Not sure what you mean?  Manufactured in PA?  Charlie is from New York.  They sell the lights all over the world not just PA.

your talking about different lights.

Thats Jeremiah from Boondock Outdoors.  he sells the Kill lights and yes he is from PA but he doesn't manufacture the light he just carries it as part of his line.  It is also a very nice light.

E-Board:  We came in from CSNJ (Jersey) for the Expo and was not disappointed.  Wish we knew knew about the 5.Buck breakfast.  Would have had it there.  Cresson were great hosts and so were you guys.  We will return to the next year one and many other times in between.  You had a lot of competition on the weekend that you picked.  Thanks Again.  Dick Taylor & Bart Townsend
