i've been shooting the 20gr 'gamepoints' the last 2 yrs with mine. couldn't find the hornadys i normally shoot after i moved and went with the 17gr hollow-point from CCI. great results so far as well.

I used one for 2 years and they are great with head shots, no pelt damage at all. can't say i ever lost a fox with a body shot but had them run off and then spent the next hour looking for them. They are a good fox gun, but for sure use the 20 gr bullets.

I have some cci gamepoints and im pretty sure they are 20 gr. I think that the hmr into a coyotes neck,head,spine will do the job yes they may run 25 -50 yards and kill over. now with that 17 the yote has to be stoped or moving slowly  i would assume to have a safe shot anyway. but yes i think this gun is great for preds. cz452 american is what i have .. does anyone use those vmax on preds?

I shot a fox this year with the .17gr vmax.  shot was about 80 yards,  hit him right behind the shoulder and he dropped in his tracks.   no autopsy was preformed but i am sure it went in and exploaded.   i was reading about the cci bullets the other night and if i remember correctly the 20gr bullet was designed to expload on impact..  more of a varmit bullet and different from what i thought.

scratch that last comment, the 20gr game point will hold up better and get better penatration.

i thought i heard the gamepoint is nice for bigger animals. I have only shot a few animals with mine not much. hell i only took it out in the woods a few times.. now that im gathering all my gear my gun will hopefully see more blood.

In my 17HMR I use CCI Hollow Point Bout Creux Speer T N T
I never used it on Coyotes, but on Hogs tore them up!!!!
I think if proper shot placement, at a stand still, with in 100Yrds,  It would take them down.

 .17 HMR is a very very poor choice of calibur for coyote hunting. If it's all you have, then I guess that's what you have to use though.

 Ya think? Let me know how you make out if you ever get the chance to put a .17 HMR pill into a coyotes body.

 I don't know of anyone who has ever taken a PA coyote with a .17 HMR. I'm curious.

My first one was with a 17 hmr,and a guy on HPA killed one last year with one.Got to shoot them in the head,or in the vitals,which are in front of the front leg,not behind the front leg,where everyone shoots for.And wonders why they run off.

there not deer.  def. head ,neck,vitals. shots will do . I mean yes its a coyote but what do you think a 20 grain hollowpoint crusin bout 2300 give or take a few hundred will do to a skull or the neck area?
