My 2007 SWAMP buck!
« on: November 28, 2007, 01:05:53 PM »
Hey guys, its been 1o years since I've got a buck (last one was at the age of 12) so its been a long time coming.  But boy was it worth it!

The cold rain and foggy conditions even weren't so bad after Monday was over.  We started out hunting a small piece of private land early Monday and it sure was dead, not to many shots heard anywhere.  I saw one doe at around 7:15 AM but she was behind a bit of thick stuff so I let her walk.  At about 2:00 we decided to head back to camp to grab a bite to eat and try to dry off. At 3:00 the crew decided to head back out again but this time we decided to hunt another piece of private ground (this one is open to the public). As we drove by the property we noticed no one else was there so we agreed on a quick deer drive since the weather was nasty.  To make a long story short I was one of the men pushing the deer and as we neared the end of the drive I saw a doe come bounding in front of me at about 30 yards broadside. I drew up my rifle to take aim.  THE SCOPE WAS FOGGED UP!  I lowered my rifle and cleaned the scope, but by the time I raised it again the doe was gone.  I started making my way through the golden rod in hopes of kicking her up again.  After walking about 20 yards ahead of me I noticed this massive buck laying under a blown down tree.  I raided my rifle and BAM the shot was good, the buck got up stumbled about 10 yards and fell.  Here are the pics ...

Thanks to all the guys below from camp.

Just took it this AM for a shoulder mount and information plate.  He did a rough score while I was there and scored it at 154.

Because the Steelers played that night and I figured I'd stay up watch them and have a few beers, plus it was raining!
