Texas Bobcat hunt
« on: February 13, 2016, 05:59:42 PM »
Last month I headed to Freer Texas to show my nephew how much fun predator hunting was. We drove to his 7000 acre ranch and we arrived at midnight. After setting up camp I suggested that we set up the FoxPro and make some calls. He was very hesitant about going out at night but I talked him into it. We drove the top drive just outside of camp and I set the FoxPro up in the point of two sendaros.  I set off the caller and it sounded as if there was a coyote behind every cactus. Within minutes we had coyotes running in, but they did not present us with a shot. After about 15 minutes we had a Bob come in and she stayed out in the open too long. For two years a bobcat was on the top of my list and within 15 minutes of my first stand in Texas the cat has been scratched off of my list.  Texas rocks for predator hunting !!!  Cats down south are very colorful and loaded with spots.. 26 lb female...I wish I knew how to post pictures...

we stayed another two days and hunted. The other 5 days was spent at the beach with family. Entirely different hunting in TX  compared to PA.  We called in probably 15 coyotes but only managed to bag 4, they don't stay in the open very long.
