This may be a touchy subject for some so be warned.
I normally don't go into much about my 2nd tour in Iraq as it was a very difficult time. I came across a video on youtube on the longest 7.62 sniper shot. The man who took this shot was part of my unit. The day he took this shot a good man and friend was killed. This was no exaggeration as I belonged to the command group as personal security. These guys were beasts. I had 3 confirmed kills with a 7.62 at 700+ meters while doing a routine check with the Lt Col.. Shortly after arriving at an op near the ammunition site we took mortar fire. The op confirmed the site and individuals, but would not engage. The Lt Col. tasked me with engaging the site. At the time SSG G. was called to assist in the engagement of a 3 man mortar team. I had a 240B machine gun and he was given the 240B that was on the op. Upon engaging I was the only one firing as the weapon on site was missing its firing pin. Don't ask me why, but heads rolled. It was confirmed that at over 700m I destroyed all 3 targets. My shot in no way compares to what SSG G. did. Our sniper team was the best.
