Check frozen streams, cricks or any type of easy access path that might be plowed or driven on.  I like to check in any type of pine stands also.

Late winter can be tough. And with them paired up they're not so scattered out. I have called nothing in the last two weeks until last night. All i can say is i wish i would've had the shotgun. Called in two grays, they hung up at 60 yards in thick greenbriars until I hit the platinum gray sound then they charged. Both passed me at one yard and I got a shot off with the rifle as they were going away from me. The only damaged done was one got a good haircut and my pride.

I changed tactics and moved into thickets with the shotty.  The only two I got was a couple  weekends ago and I called in 9 critters total.  Might do one more trip to Wayne County.

Both I got were females and they charged right in while the other I'm assuming the male kinda circled around.  Typical male making the female do all the work.

I love this sport and I probably go out 5 nights a week. I'm proud of the year for what I have called in, but not so proud of myself. This is only the second winter that I have been calling. This season I have called in 22 fox and 1 coyote. I have killed 9 of those fox and no coyote. The fox number should be doubled if it wasn't for the stupid teenager mistakes i have made at age 54.  I give up those numbers so some of the other guys realize that "it aint easy"! There are nights that I go home as proud as could be and most I sit on the sofa and shake my head over my stupidity. But, on the positive side I have made alot of memories so far and reading everyone's posts on here I learn a little more.
