     I was finally able to get my new CZ 17 hornet Varmiter out to the range.  I put a Zeiss Conquest 3x9 on it.   It is literally a tack driver.  We put a push tack up for  a target, and at 100 yards, Boman66 (Darrin) exploded the tack into pieces!!

     It has a set trigger that is EXTREMELY touchy.  I may have to adjust that a little!  I'm using the factory Hornady 20 gr ammo.  I can't wait to put some fur down with it!!

     I also have the Savage walking varmiter with the accutrigger.  The Savage shoots just as well, and is much lighter.  It's a real toss up as to which I like better.  Either way, its nice to have a back up for this fall.

Hmmmm?  I never got my phone call.  Do you like the CZ over the Savage in any way shape or form?  Sounds like there may be some issues with the Savage from reading post on here.

Tim,

     I like the trigger pull on the CZ and the amazing groups that it is able to shoot.  The magizine capacity is larger on the CZ verses the Savage.   However,  the CZ is definitely heavier to carry.  I haven't had any issues with my Savage.  Both have the heavier barrel.  The Savage has a leupold VX II, and the CZ has a Zeiss Conquest.   If I had to choose one over the other, it would be a tough decision to make, but I would probably choose the CZ.

Wow!  Those are some serious scopes.  Glad you like the CZ.  I think you made up my mind.  Now to save up the funds.  I have shot Ernie's CZ in 17 Remington.  I was impressed with that as well.

You won't go wrong Tim.  I have a CZ527 in 22 Hornet and 204 Ruger.  By far the best out of the box guns I've ever had (including Savage, believe it or not)

Planning on adding a 17 Hornet and a 223 to my collection soon.  That single set trigger is awesome.  Best of both worlds.  Good hunting trigger and target trigger all in one.

Glad to hear somebody actually has a Savage 17 Hornet that actually has no issues......wow that is rare. The Savage is a awesome tack driver....but too many of them have bolt flaws.

     There was a Savage Factory Rep at the York Outdoor show.  I mentioned the bolt flaws and asked him about it......He was unaware of any !

That's funny......guess he does not have internet or read any forums....especially the Savage Shooters Forum. Can't blame him though......business is business and saying anything negative is taboo.....if not an admission of guilt....LOL

Remember www.eabco.com does sale the  17 Hornet Encore Barrel on the  shelf... right now they are taking back orders but that yet another way to get a  17 Hornet by going the Encore route...Cost is $325.00 for the barrel... I know  I Know some of you think Encore barrels are only good for Tomato Stakes!!! Not me!!!
Look what custom Encore barrels you can get for $325.00.  If you wait until December they sale them for $300.00.
