March Madness
« on: March 18, 2012, 12:44:14 AM »

Fighting the wind and heat at times but, they are still responding quite nicely in March.   Figured I would share a quick picture from this mornings hunt.  Happy Saint Patricks Day!

Good job.  Fur doesn't look too bad either.  Are the skeeters getting you yet?
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Awesome job Kirk!  Thanks for sharing the picture.   What time did you call in the coyote?

Tim,
I would have to agree.  I was happy with the fur considering its mid March.  Most of what I have been getting has been a disappointment in the fur.  More mange than ever in reds and yotes for me this season.  This female was actually part of a double.  The male although slightly larger was not as pretty.

Mike,

The coyotes were shot at approximately 0300 hours with a tactical 20.  The male at 39 paces and the female at 94 paces.  Man did I sweat on this one.  I need to start hunting closer to the truck lol.

Looks like the tac 20 did not do much damage. Keep shooting straight Kirk.

Mark,

Its alittle like the 17 Fireball on fox.  Most of the time the fur damage is very minimal to none at all.  If you hit fringes, heavy bone or bad angles I have damaged some.  I do love this caliber for coyote and bobcats.  Way to harsh on fox though.  Can't wait for the next hunt.  Now if it would only get colder for a bit longer.
