Did denning for a few years working for the feds.  Didn't care much for it then and still don't.  However it is a very effective way to control coyotes.
Just don't have the stomache for it anymore, not sure if I ever did..

I am no fan of killing pups or any critters at birthing times or rearing times for young that is for sure. But knowledge of the animals we hunt is necessary to improve. Yes some of the best coyote hunters did damage control and still do.

I'm not sure I would say "coyote hunters" do damage control.
It's definately two totally different mindsets.
I hunted coyotes with a guy who does damage control quite a bit.
Hunting them was a whole different ball game to him.

We happened into a pack of dogs that were mobbing up and terrorizing cattle on a ranch we were hunting. It was like a switch went off in his brain and he turned into a emotionless mad killer. His whole personality changed for just a few minutes. Was actually quite scary to see. A lot of dogs didn't make it home for supper that night.

I think I know you well enough that I never thought that you did.  If I gave that impression I'm sorry.  And I don't say "I'm sorry" to often

P.S.  I finally got a pair of hearing aids, can hear them howling again :D

Did not point that statement to any one, especially you. You know me; I get pleasure just taking pictures of bugs. I sure would not enjoy killing a pup. I just wanted any one reading it to know were I stand.
Now that you have ears that can hear, I think I better call you. LOL

Had an ADC pilot the shooter and a couple ground guys staying at my place this last week. Nice guys, but I can't stand what they do.

If it were left up to them they'd kill off every coyote on the face of the Earth, that's what they get payed to do by our Government so you can eat a stinking cow lol.

As far as killing off pup coyotes in dens or killing the b..ch coyote and letting the pups starve, that's a real smart act to fallow if you like hunting coyotes.

I don't hunt during denning season.
