As a young trapper, I started to call Fox because I learn I could shoot 'em  and put additional fur in the shed. That was in 1965.
My goal hasn't changed...

My goals are simple I would like to take my first fox, and yote this year. I only made it out a few times last season. I called in a fox in late muzzloader season. I wasn't seeing any deer, was getting a little bored, and decided to play with the backstabber. Had a fox come in within 5 minutes. I know the .50 cal would have tore the fox up, but the dang gun wouldn't go off anyways. >:( I learned a few things on that hunt, and it fueled my desire to hunnt predators.

melsdad  I hope you get one this year. Hope your in gray fox country...Make sure you try the Grayfox Pup.  If grays are there they will come quite close to the speaker and if they are there they will come if you use that sound... Use a shotgun, hunt at night time... Hold a red lens light in front of you and place a bobber light styk behind the bead of your shotgun so you have something to point at the gray when it comes in.. You will find these where bobbers are sold.. get the one with the small battery they last all season...  Good Luck let us know when you get one or even if you get a shot..

Where are you located at melsdad?

Thanks for the advice, and support Uncle Buck! I have a shotgun set-up with a mueller red dot. I have done the range work with my gun, and it likes remington 3" #4 buck, and it also shoots Hevishot dead coyote well also. Both are rounds give me nice groups using the dead coyote tube.

Ben, I am located in Elizabeth Township in allegheny county along the Yough river, very near the westmoreland county line.

Hi Melsdad. I live in Jefferson Hills. Not far from you. Will you be attending the d6 hunt on November 5,6, and 7th?

Man you are close!

I am not sure about the hunt yet. How exactly does the hunt work?  I need to see how the work, and family schedule looks.

Goal this year is to make every shot count.I had some issues last year that cost me several fox.Hopefully the changes that were made will help take care of that problem.Other than that just get out as much as possible and enjoy.
