nah, he did the right thing and followed-up with the owner...but the reaction from his buddy (landowner) was priceless...he will hafta share that...

However you never fully recover from shock like that
I now suffer from PTLDTS syndrome..Post Traumatic Little Dog Trapped Syndrome
it's awful
but not being a complainer like you
I just suffer in silence
