Mentor hunts... kids can hunt coyotes but not fox..

I did tell reps this night that if they want kids to get hooked on predator hunting the mentor need to be able to shoot fox... So you can take an 8 years old and have them hunt coyotes but not red fox.. You can see that sure not going to start a fire in a 8 year old.. We have seasoned hunters that have difficulty hunting Eastern Coyotes.. :(

our state is screw up when it comes to hunting laws.   the mentor youth is a nice program for the kid but way to regulated.   when it first started kids could only shoot squirrels, buck, and turkey.   could never understand why kids couldn't shoot a doe, they are in the woods at the same time when everyone else could shoot does.   as far as the license goes, it think every kid should have to have a mentor youth license but an adult should have to tag the animals the kids shoot.

It should be up to the parent what a kid can shoot, I agree with the kid not carrying a firearm until they are 12 years of age.   there are a lot of opportunities being missed because of the laws.   kids could hunt ducks, rabbits over a beagle, fox, coon, etc.   parent could carry the gun until they are stationary then hand the gun over to the kid and let him shoot..
