Is Tomorrow Worth It? (1-29-16)
« on: January 28, 2016, 07:32:37 PM »
So I'm just dying to get out since it's been two weeks since I was out. I saw the weather for tomorrow and it's supposed to be flurries and 17 mph winds with 28 mph gusts. Is it worth me taking the day off of work to go hunting?

If so how would you approach the situation in every way?  By the way, I hunt mountains.

I'm dying to get out there.

Weather not looking good tomorrow, going to wait for a warm sunny day and call in sick.
Call in spring fever, bobcat fever or even cat scratch fever anyway I'm going.

Why not....only thing,I don't like is winds...but it looks like winds aren't picking up till noon time...check your weather for hour to hour and plan your hunt ,before the winds get heavy..?

Absolutely go if you can.  Winds over 15 mph can be tough to hunt in but stick to the pines, swamp bottoms and draws to get out of the wind.  Stay low, not on the mountain tops and call loud.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Thanks fellas, I appreciate your input.  I ended up saving the day due to the fact that in the morning I'd have had to waste time patterning my shotgun with my new Carlson Coyote choke.  I'll pattern it tomorrow with the kids while the wife is at work and then ask the General if I can skip church on Sunday to go out and then just watch the service online.  That should go over like a fart in church.  :D

Chad, you can use my excuse. Simply tell the General that it's better to sit in the woods and think about God, than it is to sit in church and think about hunting! ;)
