BUSTED!!!
« on: January 12, 2014, 07:28:52 PM »
I have been scouting an area for the last couple days for coyote, after lookin the area over I found a setup that I thought was guaranteed.Snuck into my makeshift blind last night, that I made a couple of days ago,I used a highway for a backer there was about 35/40 yard piece of timber between were I set up an road.Gave it a few minutes then started to call, coyotes almost immeadatly lit up in the hollow below me,just acrossed a small pine tree field I was watchen, sat there for about 25 minutes after that knowin the frickin things are there, just then I heard something behind me,I thought what the heck could it be the road is right there!! I sat tight listening, can't move, noise is gettin closer, holy crap what is it?? Just as I couldn't take whatever it was coming up behind me an was getting ready to turn around,I heard one of the closest loudests barks ever, scared the sh::t out of me!!I never dreamed they would circle me that close to the road..WOW,lesson learned,100x.

Good stuff.  Had it happen to me during flintlock.  I was sitting on an "indian trail tree" with my back to the trunk, thought I was going to ambush a deer.  Then I heard the tell tale bark of a coyote about 10 yards behind me.  Yeah, pooped my drawers.

I though for sure I was gonna finally get to shoot a coyote with this new 17 super mag,I swear this gun is jinxed, what's the odds that them coyotes would make that big of a circle,an then come right down the side of a highway with trucks an cars flying by,obvious traffic doesn't bother them. :-\

Jake, that is why I am field testing,I want to see if the gun is everything they say it is.That would really stink to hit one with it an have it get away. Time will tell,LOL.

I got busted this afternoon before dark.  Was checking out a new farm and the wind shifted.  Straight in front of us on the ridge one started barking.  I backed out and hopefully I'll hit it during the week.  With this years luck im actually excited to even get busted.

Success is more than just  getting a kill.  To me, success can be simply finding an area to call, or having an animal come in, even though I may not get a shot.  Its all about just being out there and haveing an experience you never had before.....thats what I consider success!!
