shotgun newbie. is a 20 gauge enough?

Never taken a shotgun predator hunting...

And For some reason I never bought a 12 gauge so I use my 20. At 30 yards the 3 inch, 5 shot turkey load has an awesome pattern that covers the cardboard (while the buckshot was way to scattered for my liking)

Does a 20g have enough power to penetrate pelts at 30-40-50 yards? I wanna start using shotguns more so I can hunt smaller sets but don't wanna just roll 'em over.

20 guage is very capable.I use one sometimes and have shot some coyotes with it.We use to use 410 back in the early days and though it worked it was a little lite.

Ok that's enough to convince me, it probably does some damage on the fur though right? I've never got into selling the hides but I would guess it takes some value out of it?

i have not taken a deduction on shotgun shot fox.  racoon they will not take.  a 20 ga is very cabable but it is very limited on shell selection.  I did see in Natchez shooting supplies that someone is make a 20ga shell in 4B.  also they make hevy shot, remington hd, in 4 shot and 2 shot which would work.
