Abolt- Do you get alot of pelt damage on your fox with your 22-250? If this works good for you how many grain bullet are you using?
Seeking Coyotes- I guess I should have been a little more clear on what I was asking about the 17 hornet. I would never think about going after yotes with anything less then a 22 hornet as well. However I was thinking about the 17 hornet for fox, coon, and bobcat. According to hornady the velocity and energy at a 100 yards is 3650fps/ 592 ft- lbs. According to remington.com the 22 hornet at a 100 yards is 2271fps/ 401 ft-lbs. The ballistics I got for the 22 hornet are with a 32 gr. accutip. I got not find any specific bullet data for the 17 but this is the closest match I could find.
All in all I think the 17 hornet is going to be a good little cartridge for smaller predators/varmints. Now I just hope that savage will begin offering it in there predator series rifles.
