Just read in the new Predator Extreme that the new 17 Hornet has a muzzle velocity of 3,650 with a 20 grain vmax bullet.

The trajectory is comparable to the .223 with 55 grain but with the recoil of a 22 mag.

Less fouling then the 17 remington and cheaper than the 17 fireball and 223 rem but same quality.

Below is the velocity/trajectory;
17 hornet 20 gr. VMAX   Muzzle/3650/-1.5  100 yards/3077/+1.1  200 yards/2572/0.0  300 yards/2120/-6.4  400 yards1717/-20.7

I know I am going to look into.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Throw a pencil at some thing. Now throw a brick at the same thing. What does more damage? I believe in heavier bullets .

My fur buyer appreciates the lighter bullets.

Its not an article but an advertisement for Hornady.

What does this have to do with the post?

I think he means weight + velocity = kinetic energy.
The heavier bullet at the same velocity will do more damage than the lighter bullet due to the higher kinetic energy

For a all around gun i would go with the 223 cal. with a 55 grain soft tip bullet .  Will drop a coyote and does not do much fur damage on a fox.   This is the Cal. and Round I use withRem. 700 hevey Bore bi pod 4X16X48 digital light up cross hairs love it
