I don't know what kind of mushroom that is, but if it produces those green bills next to it, I would love to find them on my property  ;D

It looks like hen of the woods to me. I would have to see it in person though. If its hen of the woods (not sure the scientific name) it is absolutely delicious to eat. Much better than chicken of the woods.

Nope it's not a Hen of the Woods... How long has it been in your yard?  See it has gills underneat... Kind of looks like an Oyster mushroom that has aged a  bit...The gills kind of make me know it not a Polypore which is the family that Hen of The Woods is in..When fresh many of oyster mushrooms are white... If this picture is from now in December/Jan and unseasonal temps.. It could be old Oyster Mushrooms????????

Yep, it's now. And on the decline @ picture time. But was more white in color.
A year or so ago, I rented a stump grinder and removed several stumps. This was one of the spots I removed a stump. First time I used a stump grinder and was neat to use and run and really did a great, fast job.

I was gonna say Oyster but being in the grass threw me off.  The stump grinding explains a lot.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

yep if it was white in color then it was a good eating oyster mushroom.. Now if you sprayed that area with insect killer or grub killer don't ever eat them from the spot... See...mushrooms are really the fruit of the fungi.... Mycelium runs under ground. the mushroom is the fruit.   So just like other fruits that can be sprayed with poisons... The mushrooms on treated grass can harbor cancer causing agents...

Oyster mushrooms are usually used in place of seafood in recipes.. Best if your going to eat them someday is to find a recipe on the web and use all of the spices they tell you to doctor it up... Plain oyster cooked in butter could just taste blah!!!

By the way we all know what Honey Fungus mushroom is:  If you find Honey Fungus mushrooms all the trees around the mushrooms are going to die..  It be the Mycelium that is under the ground that is going to kill every tree.. So if you see Honey Fungus mushrooms in your yard... You trees will die..

Hern is OK with the oyster mushrooms... Just wanted to throw in about Myceilium... See the Honey Fungus mushroom is edible and not deadly but the myceilum underground is what kills the trees..
