I'm on the fence about gates being open.
Pro's:
I like when they are opened for deer season because it makes scouting much faster and easier. Even more so since I don't scout/hunt like I used too.
Con's:
It allows the lazy run & gun/road "hunters" to drive into areas they normally wouldn't go due to the fact they would have to get out of the truck, or walk more than 20 feet from it.
Around home here human activity does not make too much of a difference. Up in the "big woods" where there is much less human activity it does make a difference. Anyone who has ever called in and shot a coyote could attest to this.
If I had to say yes or no, I guess I'd say close them and weld'em shut.
