I'm setting up a shotgun to hunt coyotes with in allegheny co. That's a no center fire ammo county. Can't decide if I want a scope or not. Can anyone recommend a scope for a 12 gauge? I'll be using 3 1/2" dead coyote loads and looking for something to withstand the recoil.

I have been running a Leupold VX II on my 12 gauge with no problems. All I shoot is the HEVI-Shot Dead Coyote loads. I personally love this set up.

Just my 2ยข.....In my experience I have removed the scope from my shotgun. Having said that let me explain ??? Night hunting with lighted crosshairs, fast moving fox I missed twice, I look above the scope and shoot and get the fox......if you are pulling your game to within shotgun range, I opt to not have a scope on a shotgun ;) ;) Just my experience and now things have improved for me and I don't try to stretch my shotgun shots outside the known kill area...... 8) 8) 8)

Some guys here in central Pa use scoped shot guns for daytime rigs, never personally tried it yet.
Bank on the advice from goose a hard charging predator at night with any scoped weapon can be real tuff.
Let us know how the 3 1/2 pattern for ya, we're only getting good patterns from 3 in, probably the difference
In weapon n choke.

Thanks for the info guys. I scouted the area today and most shots will be 50 yds or less so I'm going without a scope. I may try a burris fast fire lll optic with a speed bead lent to me till next fall.
