I just received an e mail notification from Midway USA. They got in a shipment of Hornady 17 Hornet 20 gr. ammo. There is a 5 box limit. The price was around $18.50 per box (25 rounds per box) if my memory serves me correctly. For 5 boxes with shipping was around $109.00
If any one is interested, here's the web link:

Ian,
Is that before or after your order?
-
I checked my e mail this morning around 4:30 am. I placed my order around 5:00 am, and it was in stock and my order was confirmed stating I should receive it by Friday via Federal Express.

Ian,

hahaha. Nope, I clicked the link given and it said out of stock already.

If anyone has a box they would be willing to sell me please send me a pm.
-
Most Dunhams have at least two boxes in stock in my area but they are charging $24.99 a box.
-
unfortunately if you need it you don't have a choice. At least if you buy it you'll have the brass to reload

I want to give a public shout out to MisterJake who is a generous guy and a true class act. Jake is giving me a box of his ammo and would not take any money for it.
Jake, I hope to have the honor to meet you someday. If you want me to take you out hunting this year, consider yourself invited my friend.
Mike

Sadly today it sold out again at midway... I need to start to reload some of my Brass. Something also, I checked with Cabeals...last I checked they to were sold out of 17 Hornet Brass again! :( :(

Have you started loading these uncle buck ? I'm Curious what kind of case life can be expected . I'm still waiting on my die set so I haven't had the pleasure of testing out loads . I hope its in the 8 range as buying new brass puts the cost right up there with loaded ammo . , Jimmy

Try Meyers Gun Shop in Bath, Pa. Located near Allentown. He had quite a bit but will only sell 2 boxes per customer. The other place that had it was Natchez Shooting. Have to order on line. My buddy just ordered 6 boxes at around $21 per box.

Hey Jimmy...I load for my .17 Fireball which is similar. I bet you get about six and you will start getting some neck splits on a few cases after three or four times. I've started to anneal my .17 Fireball brass after each reloading because it seemed to not last as long as my other calibers.

Jimmy I have 200 rounds of brass but have not yet reloaded for the 17 Hornet yet!
I was shocked how expensive the RCBS dies were on the 17 Hornet.
I do have everything for reloading the 17 Hornet. However I'm going to start the season off with the 22 WMR and 17 Fireball for fox. Sorry for not responding back sooner!
I do always keep in reserve 100 rounds of brass on all my newer calibers!
I will probably start off with factory 17 Hornet ammunition when I do get to using the 17 Hornet!
Just make sure you check for case stretching and cot them back to the specific length.
I doubt it will take me years to shoot the same brass 6 or 7 times. I'm not much of target shooter with my predator guns. Only use for hunting!
