Title: Dog proof traps
Post by: foxtrot on July 29, 2010, 08:32:58 PM
I am thinking of buying some dog proof traps for coon trapping this fall and was wondering if anyone has experience with them. The choices are coon cuff,Duffers, egg trap, and little grizz.

I ordered a couple for Forrest this year, we have not used them yet but I ordered the Coon Dagger and Duffers, after looking at them and playing around with them i like the Coon Dagger over the Duffers, it is a push/pull and if seems like the Duffers will be harder to stake.

The dagger is a new style I wasn't aware of but seems like a pretty good set up.Thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong?  Did I not see once they suggest that using a uncooked cracked egg for coon..Let it slide down on the bottom of a tree (right above the trap) as a good bait for everything wild but not not domestic dogs?

However Johnny......Cash sang that song....."That Dirty Ole Egg Sucking Dog!"   Someone is lying to me here?
